Brett Muir’s (Kingborough Rover) Boot Party
Saturday December 7th 2002
Venue: Pauly Miller & Guy’s Bachelor Pad, Braddon’s Lookout (near Devonport)
Theme: Australiana

Mid Saturday afternoon, still rather tired from Jarv, Kate & Melissa (Weindorfer Rovers) Boot Party the night before, people started arriving for another big night. A Boot Party is Rovers’ way of saying goodbye to a rover when they turn 26.

The theme of the boot was “Australiana” as Brett had being living in Norway since March 2002. There were numerous terry toweling hats, blundstones, flanny’s, bluey singlets, 2 bottle top bikinis and thongs (the ones you wear on your feet, mind you they did find a pink g-string in the freezer the next morning!). There was also a shell bikini which Grant Munting enjoyed wearing later in the evening…

Dinner was in the form of a spit roast and salads. While we waited for dinner to cook there was a bit of backyard cricket. Classic catch of the night was Pauly Miller, sitting in the deck chair taking a one handed catch. Unfortunately he went over backwards and spilt his beer.

Scott McNamara did a speech for Brett and presented Brett with his ‘boot’. It is tradition at Kingborough to be presented with a copper boot made other rover(s) designed to match the Rover’s character. Brett’s boot was a blundstone (seeing as he always wears them) with white elastic sides. The white was to symbolise Brett putting his foot in a bucket of white paint.

After the formalities it was back to the party. There was more cricket, table tennis championships, 8 ball and much dancing courtesy of DJ Ed. There was even a nudey run through the house by Jarv (gee that’s a surprise, Jarv getting his gear off!) and two girls from NSW.

The morning after we cleaned up the mess, had bbq bacon and eggs for breakky and watched “the world’s strongest woman competition”. After this Ella Jeffrey was invested as a squire into the Kingborough rover crew.
